Age Friendly Orillia
An Age-Friendly community is one where policies, services and structures are designed to support and enable people of all ages, to live in a secure environment, enjoy good health and continue to participate fully in their communities.

The Age-Friendly Orillia Advisory Committee (AFOAC) considers both the challenges and opportunities of our aging population. We advocate for and support policies and initiatives that enable people to benefit from an active, independent and meaningful life.

Our Goals

  1. Advocate for Age-Friendly Strategies & Initiatives
  2. Act as a Sounding Board for Public Policy Development
  3. Promote Inclusion of All Voices in Age-Friendly Development
  4. Measure & Evaluate Impact of Age-Friendly Projects & Initiatives

The Canadian Index of Wellbeing (CIW) is an independent and credible national voice to measure the economic, health, social and environmental wellbeing of Canadians.

The CIW tracks changes in eight quality of life categories or domains including: community vitality, democratic engagement, education, environment, healthy populations, leisure and culture, living standards, and time use. It releases index reports which measure stability and change in the wellbeing of Canadians over time.
